The Structural Engineer will be directly responsible for the planning and designing of projects in the department. In addition, the Structural Engineer will develop and plan the designs of projects while setting and maintaining the established budgets.

Job Duties but not limited to:

  • Prepare detailed project plans
  • Prepare calculations and drawings for review to the Manager of Engineering
  • Prepare a daily report to be submitted to the Manager of Engineering for review as required and records.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate site work with other staff activities.
  • Provide technical oversight and coordination of project engineering work; through project coordination meetings and other means.
  • Monitor progress against project schedules and budgets; recommends allocation of resources as required to accomplish goals.
  • Direct, review, and approve design and project changes as appropriate.
  • Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
  • Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to the team and client as necessary
  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems — Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Requirements:

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in good standing with PEO.
  • Engineering degree, with an area of focus in Structural Engineering.
  • 4 to 6 or more years of Engineering experience.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally, giving presentations and in writing with all levels of the organization, including executives.
  • Able to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineer team members in a clear manner.
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong skills in Autodesk products including AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Able to create alternative solutions to problems.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
